Returning Staff Application

This page is intended for Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Staff planning to return to staff the following summer.

Thank you for considering returning to the Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation! One of the most important things to the long term sustainability of our camp is the knowledge that returns each year with our staff. With that comes a whole lot of responsibilities as well. Our expectation of you is much greater than a new staff member. We expect that you have a higher degree of professionalism, subject matter knowledge, and overall awesomeness that our camp staff is known for.

To learn more about each position at camp, check out our Camp Staff Position Descriptions! (Opens up a Google Drive Folder).

This reapplication process is designed to gather your impressions of your performance over the course of your previous summers, inform your camp director to your intentions, and to also give you the opportunity to shift gears into other roles! I cannot stress the last one enough, this is your opportunity to let us know that you have developed a passion over your time at camp that you would like to explore! Have you been at the waterfront for 2 years, but would really like to work in Eco-Con? Maybe you heard Handicraft plays with high voltage (not true) and forges (totally true) and you want to see what it is all about.

Take this time to be self-reflective and honest about what you are trying to achieve.

As with last year, all returning staff will need to interview. This interview gives you and your camp director an opportunity to discuss where you want to serve next year.  During the interview, you may realize there is another role that may be better for what you would like to achieve at camp.

NOTE:  If you have already interviewed, you do not need to schedule another interview.  If you applied for a position in the East/West offices, the respective director will be reaching out to schedule an official interview.
