Parent Portal 

There is a lot of information here about the Parent Portal that can be very helpful, so please take your time going through it.

COMPLETE THE TROOP OR CREW REGISTRATION FIRST for each week you’re attending summer camp, and for each troop if you have a boy and girl troop attending (both deserve to be recognized for attending and have the correct troop designation/number on their merit badge records) . You can delete participants while your registration is still In-progress but once it’s completed, only Debi can delete anyone.  The registration confirmation email will include a link to access it to change participant info, add people, set up the Parent Portal, etc.   IMPORTANT: As the Registration Contact YOU DO NOT NEED to use the Parent Portal to make online payments or choose merit badge classes when they open. 

The Parent Portal is found under “Additional Actions” in your completed registration.  Here is a how-to VIDEO LINK for the Unit’s Registration Contact.

Download the PDF version of the Parent Portal Credentials (NOT the Excel version) – You can copy/paste the link or add a screenshot of the QR Code in an email to a parent. Both will take them directly to that scout’s information and no one else will have access to it.

OPTIONS – First, choose the level for the troop’s families.

  1. Families can pay fees online and choose their Scout’s merit badges.

  2. Families can choose merit badges for each of their scouts but cannot make payments.

  3. Families can see the merit badge choices but cannot add/change them or make payments.

  4. Families do not have any access to the Parent Portal. If you do not share Parent Portal IDs and Passwords with them, there’s no way for them to access it.

 

WAIT TO SHARE PARENT PORTAL IDs AND PASSWORDS IF:

  • You have a scout applying for a NEIC Camps Scholarship, DO NOT give those families the ability to make payments online until AFTER the scholarship payment has been manually applied by NEIC, you will be notified when it is and will see it listed as a Council Program payment.

  • A scout wants to use fundraising money to pay part of her or his summer camp fees, make sure the troop has paid that amount to the council (and it’s been applied online) BEFORE giving that family the Parent Portal ID and password for their scout.

  • Your unit will make all the registration payments, but you want to allow families to choose merit badges once sign up begins you MUST ALSO choose: “Prevent parents from making payments or seeing event fees” before sharing IDs and Passwords.  IF YOU DO NOT CHECK THAT BOX, you are essentially permitting them to pay fees online which could greatly complicate things for everyone involved.
